Fade surfboard, Murasaki Sports new team rider Kahana Kalama just picked up a couple of new boards to test. He said he's been doing alot of traveling and for the last 2 months was in Indonesia where he scored good waves and was fliming for up coming Fuel TV shows.

The Xcel pro went today in windy 4-5 ft waves at sunset point. I got there just in time to see Sunny Garcia kill his heat and get the highest total score in the first round of a total 16.50. Still ripping and surfing good I think he has a chance to go far or even win the contest.

エクセルプロ初日は風が入ってしまったけど４−５ftのサンセットポイントでスタート。サニーガルシアのヒートを見にってきたよ。サニーはいきなりラウンド1で１６．５０ptの本日のハイエストスコアでぶっちぎり。サーフィン切れてたし、リップしまくりで、うまくいけば優勝もあるカモよ！

i've watch Sunny surf ever since he was a grommet surfing in the menehune division. He's a well respected surfer and many people look up to him. Kai really likes to watch him surf and was stoked to get a picture with him. Thanks Sunny !

The day after I got to Japan I went to murasaki chiba users cup at mototsuka. Beautiful sunny day, light winds and waves ! Everyone said that it was one of the best days for a contest there. By the time we went out the wind was a little onshore and not very good. I was surfing good 4ft Haleiwa the day before I went to Japan so i had to get use to the waves a little but we all had fun during our session.
Congratulations to all the winners ! Hope to see you next year !!

日本に着いた翌日にはムラサキ千葉ユーザーズカップが本須賀ポイントで開催されたので行ってきたよ。天気もよくって風も弱くいいコンディション。でも2日前にハレイワで４ftの波乗ってきた僕にはちょいと物足りなかった。でもエクスプレッションセッションでは楽しんじゃいました。優勝したみんなおめでとう！来年もまたあおうね！

The North Shore finally came up ! It's bigger than I thought it would be. Sunset Beach must have 6 ft sets. Haleiwa's solid 3-4 ft and not crowded. More waves coming next week !

ノースはついにサイズアップ！思ってたよりでかくなったね。サンセットビーチは６ft、ハレイワは３−４ftのソリッドブレイクで空いていたよ。まだまだ上がってきそうだね！

Tried a new 5'11 quad that WES made me today. Had a fun session and the board was fast ! The waves were about 4 ft on the sets but the board went fine making the fastest sections. Haven't surfed waves this big in awhile. Even on the tiny waves the board went great !

Still small on the North Shore but the it looks good for this saturday and should be 6 ft and another bigger one on monday. Everyone's desperate for waves and should be packed everywhere. Check out this picture. 1 ft Haleiwa and about 35 people out !!

This is Steve the owner of Island Fin Design located in the old Waialua sugar mill area just outside of Haleiwa. I went there today to get some fins. We've been getting fins from him since we started. He makes the best fins in Hawaii and has been doing it for about 30 years. Thanks for always rushing our fins when we need um !! His fins can be found in fine surf shops throughout Hawaii.

アイランドフィンデザインのオーナーのスティーブと今日あってきた。ハレイワのはずれの古くからのサトウキビ畑にあるんだ。FADEというブランドを立ち上げてからずっと長い付き合いがある。彼の作るフィンは３０年の歴史があり、ハワイの波に適していて、有名なサーフショップにもそのフィンが取り扱われている。急いでいるときなんかも対応してくれるし本当に助かってるよ！

Today we went surfing at Dianond head cliff's with Hideko Kodama for a surf lesson. She's here visiting from Chiba ( ichikawa ). The waves were about 1-2 ft. It was a little windy and not the best conditions but we still had alot of fun. She'll only be here one more day and has to go back to Japan. So fast ! Have a good time the rest of your stay here. Hopefully next time you come the waves will be better. Aloha...

今日はダイアモンドヘッドで千葉の市川から来ているコダマヒデコさんとサーフした。波は１−２ftでちょっと風も入ってそれほどいいコンディションとは言えなかったけど、マー楽しめた。彼女はたった1、2日しかステイできないということですぐに日本に戻るそうだ。帰るまで目一杯楽しんで！今度来るときは良い波に当たりますように！

After we surfed we went to So Gong Dong Korean resturant for lunch. It's located in the Mcully shopping center right outside of Waikiki. We go there once in awhile when we're in town. If you like korean food you should check it out when you're in Hawaii. That's the spot !!!

サーフィンの後ソゴンドンっていうコリアンレストランでランチタイム！ワイキキのはずれのショッピングセンターにあって、タウンに行った時行ったりする。韓国料理好きな人は是非チェックしてみて！結構有名だよ。

ハワイアンとバリーブルームフィールドも第1回目のコンテストからずーっとかかわってきたメンバーだ。彼らもリラックスムードで観戦中。

Skill Johnson, the man with the hat is the main guy who started Haleiwa menehune contest. Many people really appreciate what he's done over the years for the kid's !! 31 years and still going !!!!

帽子被ってるのがスキルジョンソンで、このmenehuneコンテストの創始者のうちの１人だ。何年もの間キッズのサーフィンの為にやってきた彼への賞賛は大きい。リアムマクナメラとロッキーキャノンはコンテストアナウンサーを務めてくれている。

The contest was held today in tiny 1 ft.waves. Sunny and clean and perfect for kokua division and the 7-8 year olds. The kokua division ( up to 6 years old ) is the funnest division of all to watch. Parents are able to go out and help there kid catch waves. They're are all winners because everyone who enters the kokua division gets a trophy !!
The contest still has some divisions to run so it will finish up next weekend. I'll get you the results when they finish.

第３１回のハレイワmenehuneコンテストが開催されている。波は１ftとかなり小さいが、天気はよくって、kokuaディビジョンや７−８歳のクラスには良い波だ。kokuaディビジョンは６歳以下のエントリーで親も一緒にアウトに出てテイクオフを手伝ったりできる。そして勝ち負けはなく参加者全員にトロフィーが渡される。今週末には全てのディビジョンが終了する予定。

Got up early again and watch Hide's heat. He surfed really good and I think he should have got through the heat. They ( the judges ) over scored Jordy Smith on one of his waves and if it wasn't for that Hide would have got through. They gave him a 8.00 when it should have been maybe a 7.00. Even the announcers said the wave was over scored. He is a unreal surfer but he didn't deserve that 8.00 an got it for just who he is. And at the end of the heat Hide needs a 6.18 to get to 2nd. There's only a few seconds left and Hide takes off but Dane Ward the kook drops in on him on because he doesn't have a chance to get through. That could have been the wave to get him into the next round . I was pissed off when I saw that but that's how it goes. Hide's now off to Brazil.
Sorry I don't have any shots of the Menehune contest. We had some other things going on and couldn't make it. Will try again tomorrow.

また早起きしてヒデのヒート見た。勝ててた試合だったけど、正直ジャッジがジョーディースミスにポイントつけ過ぎ！あれはどう見ても7ptかなーというライディングに8.00pt付いちゃって、もしそれが7ptだったらヒデはラットボーイの1位に次ぐ2位でラウンドアップしてたのにね。アナウンサーでさえ、8ptはどうなの？って感じだった。しかも終了間際のヒデの波に４位のデーンワードがドロップインしちゃって、その波結構よくて逆転できそうだったのに。まー、それが試合だから仕方ないよね。ヒデはすでにブラジルに向かってるよ。次に期待だね。ハレイワのコンテストの写真はまた今度！

I rode my EY quad at Haleiwa today. Fast and loose for small waves. The waves were only about 1-2 ft. but hardly anyone out so it was fun. I Saw Shuji Kasuya there with his wife Mito and baby Aqua. The Haleiwa Menehune contest starts tomorrow. I met some friends that kept their kids home just so they can practice for the contest!! This is serious business !!! They all want there kids to do good. I'll post some photo's tomorrow and let you know what's up.

今日はハレイワでエディーヤングのQUADに乗ったよ。小波でのスピードとルースさはピカイチだね！１−２ftでサーファーほとんどいなかったけど全然遊べるよ。糟谷修二と奥さんの美都、赤ちゃんのアクアとあったよ。明日からハレイワはMenehuneコンテストで、友達とそのキッズ達が練習してたけど、みんなマジだね！みんな我が子の為に必死だった。コンテストのリポートをお楽しみに！

Woke up at 5:30 this morning to watch Hide's heat. It looked cold and super hard to surf. Waves were about 1-3 ft and choppy. He won the heat with 2 good scores, a 6.67 and a 6.73. His heat tomorrow will be really hard but as long as he gets good waves I think he has a chance to get through.

朝５時３０分に起きてヒデのヒート見たよ。波は１−３ftのチョッピーで相変わらず水は冷たそう。でもヒデは6.67ptと6.73ptの2本のスコアで1位通過！！でも次のRound of 32はマジできつそうな相手。でもラウンドアップのチャンスはある。ゴー！ヒデ！

Surfing is a real big part of our lives but not everything. Besides surfing my sons Kai and Koa play alot of different sports like baseball, bastetball, football and moto-cross. Also go diving and Fishing. I want to expose them to alot of different things. Kahuku moto-cross track is located in the mountains above V-land on the North Shore. Surfed Laniakea today. Finally some waves ! Nothing to get excited about but fun surf at about 2-3 ft. and beautiful weather ! The reports show nothing big for maybe this whole month !! Feels like one of the most slowest starts in a long time. Well, it could be flat so just gotta be stoked with what there is.

Hide won his first heat in the round of 96. Water looks cold and waves about 2 may 3 ft. He has a hard heat in round 4 with 3 good surfer's from the USA and will be coming up soon.

For the past few years I've been going on surf trips with Bata, Yakkun, Tetsu, and Zutcho. I've known all of these guys for many years and always have a good time when we travel together. We're trying to make the trips a annual thing and hope to get some good waves somewhere next year. I always like dropping in on Yakkun and can't wait for the next trip !!

ここ数年、川畑、稲葉、浦山、河野プロとトリップに行っている。彼らとはずーっと前から友達で、トリップではいつも良い波当てているんだ。1年の行事として来年もどこかへ行く予定。ぼくはいっつも稲葉のとこにぶらっとよるのが好きなんだ。次のトリップが待ち遠しいよ！

Wes has been making some sick fishes. Besides that for small waves he's been doing Stub's , Quads , Fire balls and stealth's. The riders have some of these models and getting some positive feedback from them. Really fun for when the waves are tiny !!! Check um out at Murasaki sports.

It's only about a foot today and suppose to come up a little tomorrow. Been a slow fall season so far with only a few swells and the biggest about 4 ft. I guess it could be worst but it's pretty boring and can't wait to surf some good waves !!

Hide is on the cover of the new Surf 1st ! Stoked and well deserved. Talked to him the other day and said that he'll be going to California for the O'neill cold water classic and off the Brazil. Wish him luck.
He also ordered his quiver for Hawaii and will be coming here in December.
